Appeals
All parents have the right to appeal against any decision made by or on behalf of an admission authority as to the school your child attends under legislation produced by the Department for Education (DfE). You have the right of appeal if you have parental responsibility, whether or not you are the natural parent or if you care for a child who lives with you. It does not have to be the same person who submitted the application form.
If you do wish to appeal, you will need to complete an appeal form stating why you want your child to attend that school. You can appeal for a place at more than one school, but you cannot appeal for a school you did not name on your application form.
Your appeal must be made in writing and you must explain the reasons why you are lodging an appeal. If you submit an appeal form without setting out your grounds of appeal, it will be returned to you as you will not have lodged your appeal correctly. Therefore, it is very important for you to state clearly your reasons for lodging your appeal.
Should you wish to appeal against a Surrey County Council school placement, further information can be found here
Admissions Information
Horley Infant School is part of the Greensand Multi-Academy Trust. The Trust is the admissions authority for all of the schools within the Trust, but Surrey manages the process for the normal intake and in-year admissions.
Details of the admission arrangements are available by visiting the “Determined Admission Arrangements” webpage below. For information on how to apply, either as part of the normal intake or during the school year, please see information on the “School Admissions” webpage on the Surrey County Council website below.

School Videos
Please keep scrolling down to find a small selection of videoclips which we hope will give you an insight as to what life at Horley Infant School is like!
We also have a number of videos on our school’s YouTube channel which were created during the partial lockdown. This includes a staff rendition of “A Million Dreams” which has over 4.5k views! There is also a great adaptation of the classic “We Want to Break Free” with over 2k views – perhaps you’ll get a flavour of what it is like to be a part of the Horley Infant School family…! The link to our channel is found at the footer of every web page on our school website. We also encourage you to take a look through our school website as there is lots of information available within our various web pages.
Year 3 Admissions
As we are an infant school, you will need to complete the admissions process again when your child is in Year 2. Our main feeder junior school is Yattendon School and the fourth priority for admissions is “Children attending Horley Infant School”. This means, your child in Year 2 will have priority over other children locally who are not Looked After by the Local Authority (Foster children) or who don’t already have an EHCP (Education & Health Care Plan). For more information, take a look here at Yattendon’s Admissions Policy.
First Language Forms
Within our new starter packs, we have a number of First Language forms. We ask that parents complete these documents in English but have used Google translate for our forms below and hope that this may help parents complete the document. There is a QR code that parents can scan on the First Language Forms which link to the downloadable versions found here. These are the main spoken languages in our school but we have a wider variety of printed forms available in our school office.
