Classes & The School Day

The school day begins at 8.50 am, when the doors are opened and the children are welcomed into their classrooms. All children must be in school by 9.00 am, when the bell rings and registration takes place. The school then finishes at 3:00pm which makes a total of 30 hours and 50 minutes per week where the school is open.

Many parents find this morning time valuable to talk to other parents and their child’s class teacher, in addition to looking at their child’s classroom door for any notices along with curriculum and lunch information.

Reception Morning

Reception children begin with a whole-class input at 9:00.

After this, the children are invited to access the continuous provision across all three classrooms whilst teachers and teaching assistants complete objective-led provisions and lead their focus children through play.

The children tidy at 11:10 (approximately) and gather for a final whole-class input before lunchtime. Vist the Reception Year Group page for more information.

Key Stage One (Year 1 & 2) Afternoon

The register is taken and is followed by the first of the afternoon activities.

The children have a 10 minute discretionary ‘Learning Break’ at 1:45 where some classes choose to complete the ‘daily mile’ and come back into the classroom for their final learning session.

The bell is rung at 3.00 pm. Parents/carers greet their children outside the classroom.

Assemblies & Collective Worship

Assemblies are held regularly in school for children in KS1. Reception children join for special assemblies for charities, whole school events or Class Assemblies. Assemblies follow our school values, our school rules, the Jigsaw PSHE scheme we have in school as well as linking with annual events such as Anti-Bullying Week.

Throughout the year, each class presents at least one assembly to their families. This is an opportunity for the children to demonstrate the knowledge and skills they have learned, develop their confidence when performing and talking in front of an audience as well as sharing their achievements.
