Children starting Reception in September 2026

Is your child due to start school at Horley Infant School in September 2026? If so, families receive a pack of information in the post in April/May of the same calendar year in which their child start in Reception. Reigate & Banstead Allocation of Reception Places September 2026

Stage 1

Hurrah! Your child is joining Horley Infant School in September 2026! Stage 1 is required to be completed by Wednesday 13th May 2026. Stage 1 includes:

– Completing the enrolment forms below. It is important that we have information about both parents who have parental responsibility. It is the parent who is completing the enrolment form’s responsibility to make sure all those who have parental responsibility are one of the four contacts required for every pupil. You can find more information about this in our Separated Parents Policy.

– Book your “Stay & Play” session where children are able to join us for a 45 minute session on our county wide “Transition Day” (also known as ‘Swap Over Day’ in our school!)

– Book onto one of the “New Parent Meetings”. These evenings are where we share with you additional paper forms and go through details including how the children will begin school in September. Important information such as details around uniform, lunches, transition, attendance, the curriculum (and the wonderful world of Reception!) is shared at this event. If you are unable to make it, please let us know. The two meetings are identical – we just run two in case one is easier for families to attend due to other/wider commitments.

Stage 2

Once you have attended the “New Parent Meeting”, you will be able to sign up for the following:

– A new class visit with your child’s class teacher for the beginning of September. At Horley Infants, we don’t conduct home visits for a variety of reasons. Instead, we invite you to sign up for a 30 minute meeting with your child’s new class teacher. The packs of information given to you at the New Parent Meeting will inform you which class your child is in. The Teaching Assistant for the class will also be available to support your child with the resources in the classroom if you would like to bring your child with you. If you would prefer to talk to the teacher without your child present, you are of course welcome to make other arrangements. Bookings will open at 10am on Friday 10th July 2026 and will close at 10am on Tuesday 1st September 2026. We recommend booking as early as possible if you have wider commitments.

– Our “Come Dine With Me” lunch. As part of your child’s induction to Horley Infant School, we invite all families to join their child for their very first lunch at school. There are three separate Come Dine With Me sessions and these depend on the group your child has been placed in. At the end of the Come Dine With Me session, you take your child home as this is their first half day at Horley Infants. The Come Dine With me sessions are as follows:

• GROUP ONE – 11.30am Monday 7th September 2026
• GROUP TWO – 11.30 am Wednesday 9th September 2026
• GROUP THREE – 11.30 am Friday 11th September 2026

Each family is entitled to a free meal for their child and a free meal for one adult. This gives you the opportunity to model good table manners and enjoy a scrum-diddly-umptious meal with your child. Please complete the relevant form (depending on your child’s group) below to give us your meal and dietary requirements.
